Opium is the debut studio album and was released some time around 1984. There were only a handful of cassette copies made for this album and were distributed through the Hamburg club scene. Somewhere in the early 2000's, the orignal 8-track tapes where found in a house after surviving a fire and left sitting in damp boxes for years. This left the tapes in a damaged state. Sascha Konietzko salvaged what information was still intact on the tapes and then recreated the tracks to sound like as close to the orignal as possible.

Honestly, I didn't even know this album existed for a long while and while listening to it for the first time a while back, I wondered what the orignals sounded like and if they would of been better or worse. This album is an ok one and there are some very groovy tracks here. I liked it a lot more than I thought I was going to tbh
